“He’s an old dog, turning 13 soon. There are times when he doesn’t want to eat. He never really liked to play anyway, even when he was younger. Sometimes I actually think he’s dead! When he’s sleeping, I’ll go over to check just if he’s breathing.”

“I’m studying fashion, not a designer though. I like dressing and styling people. I want to start my career in Hong Kong.”

“What’s the hardest thing about fashion?”

“Fashion? The hardest thing about fashion is the person, not the fashion. It’s the person you have to dress. They pay for you to dress them, so you are the one that is stressed and under pressure. You have to think about how to get the best deal, the best dress, the best look, and dress the person. If they don’t like it, or if other people start talking badly about them, then you’ll lose them as a client. When you lose one client, it’s never really just one person but all other people that could have been a client.”

“We thought we should do a train trip in China, so we flew to Beijing, then took a train to Harbin. That was in the middle of the winter and I don’t ever want to do that again, especially with 4 children. When we bought the tickets, they didn’t put us together. The guys we were supposed to trade cabins with were smoking and drinking so we couldn’t take the cabin with it smelling like smoke. We ended up having to pay someone else to trade with us just so we could all be together, squeezing all 6 of us in one cabin."
